The name and the serene Bay view are the same, but Tonno Rosso by Faz is a whole new kettle of fish -- literally. The Faz restaurant mini-chain brings its pan-Mediterranean strengths, like spectacular hummus, to the Embarcadero. In tribute to the name (Tonno Rosso, meaning red tuna, was itself a tribute to the restaurant's former incarnation, Red Herring), the menu is strong on seafood, including a Faz specialty: hand-cranked fettucine Marco Polo with prawns and curry sauce. But the menu also takes advantage of the space's open hearth fireplace, with a strong focus on roasted meat like quail kabob, lamb shank and smoked pork chop. Interesting salads, like Persian cucumber with sheep's milk feta and tangy grape verjus, round out the menu.
