About 28 miles south of Carmel and 2 1/2 hours from San Francisco, Ventana Big Sur Country Inn Resort has 50 rooms of luxurious neo-hippie hedonism. Three of those rooms are Townhouse Suites with fireplaces and wet bars downstairs and bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs. Standard rooms have single, queen, double queen or king beds, ocean or mountain views, TVs, VCRs and honor bars. The spa offers massages, body wraps, facials or combos (only $185 for a private room for 90 minutes); also available are Ayurvedic Therapy, Aroma Sessions or, for only $100 ($150 per couple), you can purchase a Color Session where they'll fine tune your auras. You can walk through the woods or take a tram to the excellent Cielo Restaurant. All in all, the Ventana Big Sur Country Inn Resort is a nice place to rid yourself of some of that hateful IPO money. -- Doug Konecky
