Rate and Write a Review Farley's sits overlooking all of downtown San Francisco -- its outdoor benches and tables serve as the perfect respite for those foggy days when only Potrero Hill is sunny. Inside, the coffeehouse is spacious and airy. The worn hardwood floor and decorative moldings are reminiscent of the ice cream parlors of yesteryear. Locals congregate here daily to catch up on gossip, discuss politics and hold informal dog and/or baby groups. It's not uncommon to find a few journal writers, sketchers and readers in the mix, too. If you've come with nothing to do, grab one of dozens of board games off the shelves and invite your table-mate to a game of Uno, There are plenty of eclectic magazines, books and journals to thumb through as well. You'll never feel that you've overstayed your welcome -- sit at one of the rickety tables as long as you'd like. The coffee here is brewed strong and hot and served in generous bowls. You can order espresso drinks, chai, tea, cocoa, cider and variations thereof. Bagels, biscotti, muffins, scones and giant chocolate-chip cookies are available all day. Service is curt but kind. -- Ana Schwartzman
