Alegrias on Lombard Street offers more than 20 kinds of small plates as well as a short wine list mostly featuring selections from Spain. The restaurant is run by the Faedi Gonzalez family and has homespun warmth. Framed family photographs and Spanish travel posters adorn the walls in the two dining rooms.

We are descendants of Spaniards, so we know good Spanish food when we find it and Alegrias is "maravilloso." We had wonderful Tapas, probably the best Potato/Onion Omellette ever, and the Shrimp Croquetas were out of this world! The Paella de Mar was also terrific, with plenty of succulent seafood and perfectly timed rice. If you want to experience Spain without the long flight... go to Alegrias, and make sure to be ready to be enchanted by the guitar player.
