After living in Haight/Ashbury and having the opportunity to try all the pizza places in the area, this place beats the other pizzarias hands down.

Whats the point of a decent tasting pizza when it has the potential to make you sick? The cook making the pizza came in right after smoking a cigarette, and started making a pizza without washing his hands. Then he came in the bathroom, used the urinal and left without washing his hands. As I am in the restaurant biz, I kept an eye on this guy...and trust me...it only got worse. The whole place shoule be busted by the Health Department.

I always joke with my friends from NY that these folks must have escaped from some town in NY up by the Canadian border, because there is nothing about this pizza that compares to NY pizza, except that it is sold by the slice. When I recently moved here, I was fooled by the name and bought a slice, took one bite and tossed it in the trash. In the Castro, Marcellos is much better than Escape, but even they don't compare to NY pizza. Don't get me wrong, I love SF but some things can not be duplicated and are better left undone. When in SF I eat frozen with rising crust, when in NY or Miami, I eat real Italian pizza.
