House of Prime Rib   

The Scene With its wingback chairs, thick carpets, brass-studded leather banquettes, wood paneling and fireplaces, the House of Prime Rib looks like a British country manor. Especially popular for special occasions, the restaurant has multiple dining rooms that are almost always crowded, usually with a family-oriented clientele that makes the trek from all over the city and greater Bay Area.The Food The name says it all. Although the menu offers a variety of traditional meat-and-potatoes dishes, the real focus is prime rib. The warm, juicy roasts are served tableside--showmanship is big here--from large aluminum carts that are wheeled continuously through the dining room. Entrees come with mashed or baked potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, horseradish and salad. Like the meat, salads are served tableside, with the greens and dressing tossed together in a spinning chilled bowl. A seafood entree is also available, varying each night according to season.
