Drive down Lakeville Highway, a major thoroughfare that crosses through central Petaluma, and you'll see auto body shops and dirt roads leading out to what seems like nowhere. But you'll also find Lolita's, a small restaurant and market that draws consistent praise from those who have discovered it. If you're shopping for simple Mexican food ingredients, you'll find them: tortillas, masa for tamales, tomatoes, jalapenos and other assorted goodies. Near the front counter, sweet Mexican pastries are carefully placed on silver platters inside a display case, traditional of Mexican panaderias. Walk over to the restaurant and for less than $5 you can buy tortas (Mexican-style sandwiches), quesadillas and tostadas. For those with a large appetite, go for a shrimp plate or one of the combination plates that come with rice, beans and salad.
