This intimate pizza place has a European vibe but remains distinctly Californian. Every night the menu features a cheese salad with a selection of local artisan cheeses, a few house-made desserts, a couple of wines to choose from and about five thin-crusted pizzas big enough for two. These are not your heavy, cheesy American-style pizzas. Instead, you'll get imaginative combinations of fresh ingredients. The clam pizza comes with shells and all; Rosie's farm-fresh egg pizza (a favorite) comes with two big eggs cracked and baked on top. It sounds weird, but it's absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately the secret is out, and there is often a wait to get a seat at one of the four small tables inside. Luckily Pizzetta has taken pains to make the sidewalk outside pretty inviting. There are benches to sit on and lanterns hanging from a tree. The waiter will even bring you a glass of wine while you wait if he's not too busy. You can also order your food to go, but it's worth the wait to experience the cozy bustle of this place. Once you decide what you want -- one pizza and one cheese salad is enough for every two people, and youll have room for dessert -- order at the counter. Pizzetta doesn't have traditional table service, and if you don't take the initiative you may wait for a very long time for someone to come and take your order.

My sister's friend knows the owners, and she took my husband and I to dinner there one night. All I can say is you have to try it for yourself. The best time to go is early in the evening during the week, but even if you have to wait, it's well worth it

At 5 PM on a weekday evening, even before the staff arrived, there was enough of a crowd waiting to fill every available seat inside and out, and half of the patrons were under 3 years old. The food is definitely not kiddy fare, but sophisticated, innovative and delicious. That night's side dish was two baked onions that were far more magnificent than "two baked onions" can possibly describe. If there were any more room inside or out,and fewer uncontained toddlers, I'd give it more stars.
