Sweet Adeline's selection of hometown baked goods like brownies, ginger cookies, and almond pound cakes, is giving the Berkeley sunshine some competition: Light actually shines outward from this cheery spot with butter cream and white paneled walls. Desserts glow from the cold case, and roasty-toasty, buttery scents brighten up the industrial Adeline/Alcatraz crossroads. The beaming pastry chefs add even more cheer to the mix. You won't perish from hunger trying to find a parking place here, nor will you have to pinch quarters, dimes and nickels from your car seats to afford these large portions. This has become the spot for everyone from moms with babies to local business people to hang out for scones, strawberry rhubarb concoctions and asparagus galettes.
