This warehouse, a favorite among Berkeley locals, is built into two parts. One houses the restaurant, which serves reasonably priced veggie and meals for the carnivorous set along with tasty sides like spicy samosas or other Indian finger foods. The other side of the shop is a grocery store that's loaded with imported foods from South Asia including basmati rice, dahl (lentil-type beans), spices, curries, chutneys, flour and teas. The spice section is amazing with its low prices and large selection. Next to the counter, there's a small selection of produce. The salespeople are nice and straightforward.

Good Indian Food
Vik's is one of those places you only know through word of mouth. Its a warehouse from the outside, but the food is very good - they make it right when you order it, so its always fresh and hot. The sauces are really good - especailly the tamarind sauce and the mint sauce. They will give you extras on the side if you ask for it. The prices are cheap - everything in the $3 range - specials maybe $5, so you can try different things on the same visit.
I only wish they opened later than 6pm on weekdays.
