For years, the thing most lacking in San Joses nightclub scene was a place where the kids could go to dance. The Body Shop, housed in the old Tropicana building, is here to change all that. A monster of a club, it boasts three bars (plus one bar serving just water and Red Bull to the underage and I just wanna dance sets). Throw in a social lounge, a killer sound system and youve got yourself a club. If youre willing and able to consume alcohol, head for the bar, which -- with its stained-glass lamps, comfy booths and retro 70s dcor -- couldve been lifted right out of a Dennys. It stands in stark contrast to the rest of the club, which sticks to the standard black-walled, disco-balled, smoke- machined and strobed disco formula. Theres a dress code (no tennis shoes, no sports apparel), but, fortunately, none of the usual dress-code attitude. -- Maya Kroth

The Body Shop is weaak!!!! People don't go to this club unless you want to get ripped off. Because the cover charge was $15 for 18+ and $10 for 21+...Only to get in and find a bunch of old guys that don't speak english, standing around with their D*** in their hands oogling at the 12 yr old girls. We went there in the daytime to get the hook up for that night and the dude at the door said he'd be hookin it up for free if we showed up that night, and when we showed up he was no where to be seen and we had to waste our money on this weak club. Plus the bathrooms were nasty the drinks were expensive...The dudes looked like they had just come to the club in their Taco Bell uniforms, and the girls looked like they had forgotten the rest of their outfits and I.D.'s, because if you look cute enough you're definatly getting in...Even if you are 12 yrs old....

ok, so I give it 2 stars for the music and dj's. that's it. I came down here from seattle(where it only costs $5-10 to get into a GOOD club) thinkin this was a decent place to go in cali...paid $15 bucks, and was disappointed to the extreme!half the men there are old as hell,no respect for the ladies, low-class,don't speak good enough english to have a decent convo with you, but it's not like they're tryin to talk to you anyway cuz they're too busy rubbin their D***s into your A** without your permission or molesting the little 12 yr old looking ho's in there.. dress code? nonexistent. the men were so dirty looking, like they came straight from workin @ McDonald's...and it's like they don't card the girls if they look like ho's..like I said, looked like 12.I'm only 20 and felt old there!but then looked at the old men and felt young again..there should be rules against 40-somethings bein up in there with 18 yr olds...(dad? is that you i see on the dance floor?) there ARE OTHER places for you dirty old men to go (like the bingo halls, singels bars or retirement homes)watch out ladies, this is NOT a place for decent people to go.
