The hotel, with its art deco exterior and Spanish-influenced interior was once the hallmark of high class and high life, but fell into disrepair with the rest of the downtown in the 1950s. Renovated in 1990, the hotel now symbolizes the tech boom and growth of the area. Much of the hotels business comes from salesman and conventioneers, but the De Anza offers numerous packages to hockey fans, lovebirds and other potential weekend lodgers. Replete with 100 rooms, five parlor suites, three junior suites and a penthouse suite, the DeAnza prides itself on being a business hotel with a personal touch. Each room comes equipped with a work desk and three telephones with data ports and voicemail. For entertainment, theres an honor bar in every room and each guest has access to the 250-movie video library, which includes newer releases. While the De Anza does not offer 24-hour maid service, the hotel offers a more unique feature each guest has access to the ''Raid Our Pantry,'' program, which allows guests to help themselves to a midnight snack, or a glass of warm milk from the spread left out all night in the De Anza Room. Room service resumes at 5AM, and coffee, apples, and cookies are usually available at the Front Desk. The Hedley Club, a full bar located on the lobby level, sports dramatic Mediterranean dcor and features live jazz Tuesday through Saturday night. The adjacent Palm Court Terrace is a popular locale for wedding receptions, and in- house restaurant La Pastaia serves up traditional Italian dishes. -- Bethany Polentz
