The Hyatt St. Claire Hotel, formerly the Hilton St. Claire Hotel and before that simply the St. Claire Hotel, has sat proudly on the corner of South Market and San Carlos streets since it opened in 1923. It's one of the best corners in the city, with the light rail running by and all downtown museums and attractions only blocks away. Rooms are older but nice and include special amenities such as turndown service, a snack bar and a safety deposit box. Valet parking and personal valet services are also available. The hotel is on the register of National Historic Landmarks. On the premises are the Il Fornaio restaurant serving full meals and Panetteria, a smaller venue serving pastries and coffee.
