Dargan's is a recent addition to Santa Barbara's pubs and clubs, but it feels like it has been there for years. Completely furnished in wood, with a stone floor, it has the look and feel of a large converted barnyard. It was once a warehouse, but now it is a perfect hostelry for both excellent real Irish food and traditional whiskies. Of course there is plenty of Guinness, and other stouts and ales on hand. With a pub quiz night on Wednesdays and folk music on Thursday nights, and other bands playing everything from country to rock on weekends, the atmosphere is usually spirited and friendly. Maybe that's because it's owned and run by four fun Irishmen -- with good business sense. -- Duncan Wright

Touch of Ireland in SB

We like to go to Dargen's on Thursday evening for dinner as they have live Irish-style music, and sometimes dancers are present. The food is always great (I like the Irish Stew and the Reuben) and of course the Guiness on tap makes it taste even better.

This pre-fab Irish decor pub leaves much to be desired. Took 20 friends over to have my first ever Guiness, the service sucked, and the bartender was extremely rude. Needless to say we eventually ended up at James Joyce. What a difference! Better Everything!!! Don't waste your time or $$$ at Dargans.
