The Oaks advertises itself as "the affordable spa" vacation, offering numerous fitness classes to choose from on a daily basis, a spa food plan, evening programs as well as a varied array of massage and wellness treatments. Located near Santa Barbara and Ventura, the spa boasts a relaxed environment for spagoers who prefer a back-to-the-basics approach, where casual dress rules. Once ensconced, all classes are open to guests, although they recommend one stretch class, a cardiovascular activity and some resistance training every day for optimum results. The main building is a charming circa 1920s hotel on Ojai's main street, and in 2001 a trio of stand-alone Spanish-style villas were added in response to guest requests.
