Located on the extreme northern tip of Lake Washington, the Lakepointe is a friendly neighborhood bar, replete with good pool tables, taps and the usual pull-tab games. But stick around after dark on the weekends and the real identifying characteristic becomes evident: The Lakepointe still loves heavy metal. Perhaps due to the metal-friendliness of its suburban confines, the Lakepointe is one of the last live music venues featuring hard and heavy bands. A decent-sized stage, blisteringly loud sound system and trusty fog machine all help to create the kind of atmosphere conducive to beer-spitting, hair-flipping and head-banging. You may not be able to go back to 1985, but you can always go back to the Lakepointe for a dose of real rock, hipster-free suburban crowds and good cheap beer. -- P. Porter
