Chambered Nautilus offers a quiet, intimate setting in a 1915 Georgian colonial house just north of the University of Washington. Don't be fooled by the residential surroundings -- you're just a 10-minute cab ride from downtown Seattle. Most rooms have views of the Cascade Mountains, and all are furnished with antiques and have private bathrooms. Relax in the downstairs living room by the fireplace while you sip tea and enjoy freshly baked cookies, or you might try taking a stroll through the Inn's garden. In the morning, you'll enjoy a full gourmet breakfast (keep an eye out for the wonderful french toast). If you need a little more room, try their University Suites, which offer private entrances, kitchenettes, real bedrooms and comfortable living rooms with office desks, stereo/CD players and TVs. -- Jim Whiting
