The SceneSimple, friendly and airy, this U-District institution has the affable atmosphere of a Greek cafe, with owners George and Helen Lagos and son, Demetre, doting on regulars like family. Save for a few vibrant photos of Greece hanging on the walls, decor is unfussy and utilitarian. Weekdays, students and professors fill the linoleum-tiled dining room with animated conversation, while weekends bring out large groups for brunch with the kids.The FoodThe Lagos took over in 1974. Quality and consistency remain hallmarks. Breakfast (served all day) comes with eggs, golden, oregano-flecked Greek fries and souvlaki, bacon or sausage.
