Sure, it may have the word "Dive" in its name, but you definitely don't come to this Fremont bar to chug Pabst by the pitcher or play pool with your local bag lady. Nope, High Dive is actually far classier -- and cleaner -- than its name permits. Sure, the joint stages live rock, punk and country bands seven nights a week, but the High Dive doesn't leave you feeling as dirty as you would after leaving, say, the Crocodile or the Fun House. After all, this is Fremont, where yuppies have erected pricey condos and hipsters have opened overpriced boutiques. Naturally, local bars with hip cred are sure to follow suit. If you do want to get dirty, though, there's plenty on the menu to help you out: Baby back ribs and pulled pork keep napkin usage at an all time high, while hushpuppies and jalapeno poppers keep the grease level well above FDA standards. The bar's happy hour is one of the best in the Fremont area, offering up munchies and cocktails for only $3 each (3-6PM daily). And although the live entertainment doesn't start 'til later, strong well drinks, cheap pinball machines and friendly bartenders keep patrons happily entertained until the show starts.
