What used to be an apartment building has been renovated and turned into the opulent and lavish MarQueen. It's centrally located to Queen Anne shopping, the Seattle Center and a host of fabulous restaurants in the Mercer Street area. The building was built in 1918 and all of the rooms, with their 10-foot ceilings and hardwood floors, are beautifully decorated to reflect that period. Many have sitting rooms and all have cable and coffeemakers. It may be "Old World charm," but the MarQueen hasn't forgotten modern day conveniences: All rooms have high-speed internet access and full-menu room service. The rates are reasonable and the location is a nice change from the busy downtown core. -- Patricia Whisler
