The Scene Lanterns, dark wood and high ceilings--think Frieda Kahlo's Mexico--have a sexy appeal more appropriate for late-night drinks than an after-work taco fest. A long bar and a cozy mezzanine are ideal for casual chats, while the booths that run along the opposite side offer dimly-lit corners and plenty of privacy. Servers are generous with their opinions, and mix casual friendliness with professionalism when it comes to drink refills and requests. The FoodStart off with the chunky guacamole and plantain chips-- the perfect companion for a cool mojito or margarita. House-made tortillas form the base for both fish and steak tacos; neither are particularly spicy, but fillings are cared for and plentiful. The heap of poblano mashed potatoes that come with the steak skewers are a side dish worth fighting for; don't be afraid to be selfish. Desserts--flan, warm chocolate cake and Mexican chocolate ice cream--are all delicious.

Great Atmosphere, Good Food!
By afeist164 on 07/11/2005
A few friends and I stopped in to check the place out and grab something to eat and have few drinks… we were really impressed! Everyone liked their food, I had the mole steak skewers and it was definitely something that I would order again. They have a great drink selection of beers on tap and drinks as well. The margaritas are delicious! The place looks really good, we were all really relaxed and felt comfortable downstairs and up in the “lounge” area. Good service and friendly as well. We are definitely going back…

Mission possible!

The menu needs a little work, If you are not a fan of the fish taco it can be a challenge to find something for everyone here. The tortilla soup is great. The steak skewer could benefit from a little more sophistication in the marinade. But the decor is so charming and the waitstaf is too. You can tell they really thought out the space. the colors, the rock wall, the little tea lights set up the over the bar, there is a real pride of ownership evident here. We will continue to patronize and hope for the best. The homemade coconut ice cream is worth the trip alone. Incredible.
