Shorty's   

A great adult alternative to the slick and overpriced Gameworks, Shorty's is the kind of funky, down-to-earth joint that's all too scarce around these parts. A hole-in-the-wall Belltown storefront that you'd miss if not for the circus signage out front, Shorty's is about two things -- games and hot dogs -- and it does both exceedingly well. The games are mostly vintage pinball and video games -- remember Defender and Dig Dug? -- playable at vintage prices. The dogs are all excellent and cheap; the house special Coney, with cheese and meat sauce spread liberally atop on all-beef dog, is highly recommended, and you can even get a veggie dog. Wash it down with pop in a glass bottle or any of their great selection of beers. -- Steven Alter
