Named and modeled after a cooperative community arts organization in the Netherlands, The VERA Project is a non-profit, volunteer-run venue for all-ages shows and events. After two years spent without a permanent space, VERA nestled into the old Annex Theatre space on 4th Avenue in late-2002. On any given night, you can find punk and indie bands, underground hip-hop, sound and production workshops, even political forums and community activism -- all within the freshly painted walls of VERA's new home. And it's not just for kids, either; volunteers come from all age groups and backgrounds. -- P. Porter
