Westlake Center is a brightly lit, four-story, glass-enclosed mall situated smack in the middle of downtown. Filled with over 80 boutiques, restaurants and nationally-known chain stores such as Nine West, Williams-Sonoma and Victoria's Secret, it caters to the spur-of-the-moment downtown business shopper as well as the destination crowd. As with all things downtown, location is key. Westlake is directly above the downtown bus tunnel, which provides underground access to the Bon Marche and Nordstrom's flagship store. This means you could conceiveably hit all the major stores without going out (or coming up) for air. The uppermost floor of Westlake Center contains a food pavilion as well as a few small kiosks and also marks the end of the line for the monorail. During busy shopping seasons, you'll encounter crowded escalators. And the elevators, which also serve the parking garage, can require up to a five minute wait at times. Speaking of parking, Westlake's underground garage can prove a tight squeeze as well as a pinch in your pocketbook if you stay too long. Whenever possible, the bus is best; or if you're a die-hard driver, park near Seattle Center and ride the monorail.
