The long-time home of Axis, a slick remodel of this big space imparts both warmth and openness. Back in the dining room, service is smooth and it's usually quiet enough for intimate conversation even on the busiest nights, but up front, the big bar, ideal for mingling and packed with sports fans on game days, has a completely different vibe. It's the kind of place where people congregate to meet ... other people. Yes, Amber is something of a meat market. Speaking of which, meat is the focus of the generously portioned dinner and happy hour menus, from Angus burgers and beef skewers to a prime rib sandwich, baby back pork ribs, ribeye and filet mignon. Chicken, seafood, pasta and wood-fired pizzas balance out the offerings. Make no mistake, this is also a booze mecca -- you won't have any trouble finding a beverage to fit the food or your mood. The daunting drinks book lists nearly a hundred specialty cocktails, and there's an impressive, if somewhat pricey, wine list.
