Rate and Write a Review From Cinderella's slipper to Imelda Marcos' pumps, shoes have played a pivotal role in the course of world culture. This coin-operated attraction in Old Seattle Paperworks is devoted to giant footwear. For a mere eight bits (that's four quarters), you can get the curtain covering the display to rise and revel in the sight of Brobdingnagian boots and other big-time brogues. These include a size-40 shoe owned by world's tallest man Robert Wadlow (who stood an inch under nine feet and was a popular speaker during the 1930s) and Colossus, a five-foot wingtip from the 1920s. Another treat is the museum's painted faade, which recalls century-old circus posters. Hint: don't spend too much gawking at any one of the 30-some exhibits because the curtain only stays up for a couple of minutes. Fittingly, the museum is sponsored by the Society for the Preservation of Oversize Footwear. -- Dan Avery
