Yup, the front door is red -- and that's about the only way to spot the entrance to the Red Door, aside from the beer-buzzed Fremont locals spilling out of it. Besides, there's really no need for a sign at this unassuming tavern anyway, as it is one of the most talked about, most walked social hubs in 'the center of the universe.' With 26 beers on tap (by mostly Seattle-area breweries), some top-shelf cocktails and plenty of above average pub grub, it's no wonder this place packs 'em wall to wall on the weekends. Formerly located at the corner of N. 34th and Fremont Avenue, the Red Door (along with its historic building) has been moved one block east, to N. 34th and Evanston Avenue. It was one of the first major changes that began Fremont's turn from a funky, art-centric village to a modern mecca of condos. And with that change, the vibe at the Red Door has also shifted to being more of a yuppie bar than a hippie hangout. In any case, these red doors are always open to anyone looking for some frothy brew and friendly folk.

The first time I went there, on my way home from work, I was having some french fries and a juicy fish burger, when a cute babe walked up and slipped me her number. what a place!@*
