Whether you see it as an addition to University Village or the main attraction with a mall on the side, this bright and airy outpost of the popular kaiten, Blue C sure has space. Seating is nearly double that of the Fremont location, booths interspersed with chairs, students rubbing elbows with shoppers. All ogle the conveyer belt crowded with hot and cold plates, hard-working sushi chefs proffering entertainment as well as sustenance. Management prides itself on providing very fresh fish and seafood at affordable prices, and if you choose judiciously (or if you're a vegetarian), it's fairly easy to remain frugal. Raw, cooked, hand rolls and sashimi jockey for position with spicy sesame noodles, edamame, tempura and crispy katsu. Spinach gomae with sesame dressing is a must. Even the California roll is a standout, generously stuffed with creamy crab and avocado. Desserts, like cream puffs and chocolate cookies, are also to be found. If a dish catches your eye, grab it -- it may not come around again for a little while. Though it's not within arm's reach of the belt, it's fun to sit outdoors (and sip a cucumber martini or a Godzilla -- a cocktail flavored with Midori, triple sec, lemon and orange juices).

Fun for shushi novices
By Snofies7 on 06/21/2008
I love Blue C Sushi, whether in Seattle, Lynnwood or Fremont. It's a fun place to take people who haven't tried much sushi, or to have an afternoon snack while shopping. You can also order anything you see on the conveyor belt without sauce if you prefer, plus things like sea urchin. Spinach is wonderful. Skip the desserts - they are not sweet. Sushiland is really good, less money, but also no decor and not as friendly.
