Dilettante Chocolates   

Chocolate runs in the family at Dilettante, and three generations of Davenports bring their experience to create a combination coffee/chocolate/dessert house and chocolate lover's heaven. An island in the center offers sumptuous desserts, either by the slice or in their entirety. To the right are tightly packed tables -- illuminated by hundreds of tiny overhead lights and individual spotlights -- where patrons enjoy rich chocolate and creative coffee concoctions. On the opposite wall you'll find a selection of boxed chocolate and sauces for ice cream. Be prepared for sticker shock as you can spend up to five dollars for your beverage and easily drop a twenty for a whole cheesecake. Likewise for the lunch menu, where a sandwich is more than seven dollars. But these people know chocolate, and you're likely to regard your chocolate cheesecake or coupe dilettante with deluxe vanilla ice cream with something akin to awe.--Jim Whiting
