Rate and Write a Review The SceneSituated off a cobblestone alley marking the end of Pike Street, Il Bistro offers intimacy amid the bustling market. Curvy entryways, discreetly placed tables and low lighting contribute to the seductive ambience. Service is swift and polite. The FoodRack of lamb has been the signature dish since day one, and it justly deserves recognition. To start the evening, a tantalizing sauté of calamari with basil, tomatoes, garlic and red wine vinegar is impressive. Among pastas, the Conchigilia (angel hair pasta in a champagne cream with asparagus and tomatoes, topped with seared scallops) is a winner. Meats and seafood receive respectful, simple treatments: Chicken breast roasted with garlic, imported olives and oregano and balsamic-drizzled king salmon served aside a bed of arugula offer worthy alternatives to lamb. Dessert caps off the evening--the chef's signature tiramisu arrives moist and decadent while the silky panna cotta is easily devoured within seconds.
