Eager and patient devotees line up for a table in this classy, coolly atmospheric pair of rooms, where the Coaston sisters have been dishing up inventive southern classics since 1997. Servers are down-home courteous, and so lithe it's hard to believe any of them actually eat here. In photos enlarged and sepia-toned, great grand-relations look down from the high walls like guardian angels, as if to insure that everyone leaves satisfied. Kansas City ribs, griddled catfish, crab cakes and the very popular buttermilk fried chicken with collard greens can warm up the soggiest Seattle evening, and don't be put off by the precious names: dig into Miss Choo Choo's Company's Comin' Rib Eye or Kissing Cousin's Lamb and Rice and you'll feel like one of the family. Sweets like coconut cake, strawberry shortcake and red velvet cake with buttercream frosting may prove irresistible -- just don't tell your cardiologist. -- Ginny Morey

Worth the wait

Chances are you'll have to wait to get a table but it's well worth it - great food. No highfalutin atmosphere - but it's not boring either. Check your watch and your attitude (if you have one) and you'll have a good time.

Wonderful experience! It is a great place to bring out of town guests. The wait for the table was well worth it (besides, it gave our group a chance to unwind and socialize at the bar). The service was personable and gracious. Above all, the food was amazing.

Long wait. Horrible Service. Nasty food thrown in. Was I eating at the same place I'd read so much about? The atmosphere was dark and dreary. It took over 30 minutes to be seated for lunch, 30 minutes to have a waitress come to the table and then 20 minutes to get food. And the food was bad - cold red beans and rice without an ounce of originality - I've had better from a can - and the rice looked and tasted like boil-in-a-bag. Then we got to wait 30 minutes for the check - we skipped desert - two hour lunches just don't work for most people. But Lord are the ladies who run this sweet, they just need some management skills.
