Rate and Write a Review Far from Seattle's infamously bland bagels and generic coffee shop scones, Leslie Mackie's pastries, tarts, cakes and breads made on site at this Belltown location are consistently the best the city has to offer. Macrina's excellence has been recognized by a 2004 nomination for the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Pastry Chef award, an honor following on the heels of the bakery's 10th anniversary and publication of the Macrina Bakery & Cafe Cookbook. Among the constant stream of customers you'll find businesspeople, tourists and neighborhood locals queuing for a dessert tart, dinner baguette, or waiting for a table (Lines get especially long for the fabulous weekend brunch). The lunch menu also has its following (we recommend a meze plate, overflowing salad or baked eggs), but the made-from-scratch morning tarts, cakes and breads are responsible for Macrina's fame. There's a reason the more upscale restaurants and grocery stores around town ask Macrina to bake their breads -- doesn't your breakfast guest deserve the same?
