Sandwiches are the stars at the Other Coast Cafe, which has acquired a reputation as one of Seattle's best takeout establishments since its 1999 founding. There's also limited seating on site. Nearly all the offerings come in either six-inch or twelve-inch sizes and feature heaps of thin slices cut from big chunks of meat, poultry, ham, cheese and more. More than a dozen subs top the menu, headlined by the almost-sure-to-smear-your-shirt Other Coaster -- beef or turkey on three layers of rye bread, interspersed with cole slaw, Russian dressing and Swiss cheese. The hot sandwiches are highlighted by the Reuben: thin-sliced pastrami, swiss, sauerkraut, mustard, and thousand island dressing on rye. Or, custom construct your own, choosing among enough different combinations of bread, meat, cheese, veggies and extras to confound a computer. Several homemade sides -- soup, green or spinach salad, cole slaw and potato salad -- are available. So are soft drinks, though you can't get beer or wine. The Other Coast will also happily put together party trays. -- J. T. Whiting

if you need a great sandwitch in the greater seattle area, its well worth the trip. serving boars head meats and cheeses makes this small jewel second to none. anything u order is awesome, but the ragin' cajun will set you free. dont miss this diamond in the old town ballard rough.
