Recognized as being "sophisticated, sedate, and sumptuous" by local reviewers, the Tides Hotel claims a place as one of the most luxurious hotels in all of South Beach. Even its looming presence as the tallest building in the area helps define the prominence of this first-class hotel. Located on the infamous Ocean Drive, the Tides places its guests right in the center of all of the town's action, while its slightly removed location from the waterfront (the beach is right across the street) keeps the water close but comfortably away. Besides, each of the hotel's 45 rooms offers a view of the ocean, and each room is furnished with a telescope so guests can enjoy the sights without leaving the comfort of their abode. With rooms as nice as the ones here, it remains no surprise that the guests are reluctant to leave. Each guest quarter is furnished in warming tones of beige, tan, sand and taupe, with a bed in the middle that looks so comfortable that it invites you to spend the day indoors. Each room also comes complete with a state-of-the-art entertainment system complete with cable tv, vcr and stereo. A fully-stocked minibar and room service make dining in easy and convenient, and the heated pool and exercise facilities complete this home away from home with all the services you could hope for at a first-rate hotel. The toughest decision you'll face at the Tides is whether to stay in or go out at night. You can always enjoy a fine meal at the famed 1220 at the Tides restaurant, but there's even more to explore on the streets of SoBe. Chances are, you'll spend a few evenings doing a little bit of both.

Fun Deco Hotel With A Jazz Piano Bar!
By mebarry60 on 07/04/2002
I love the night life on Ocean Drive. Resuraunts and bars are tucked inside and on the sidewalks. Look! I found a truly fabulous piano bar. Not gay, but open to all who love good music. Drinks are expensive but you are paying for the location. Enjoy! Walk the Beach afterwards. Michael Barry MA
