As far as restaurants on South Beach are concerned, China Grill is the largest in terms of square footage. Appropriately enough, the portions of food here may be among the largest as well. China Grill isn't your ordinary eat-out-of-the-carton Chinese food. Pan Asian cuisine cooked to perfection is what you'll find in this restaurant, where a dizzying array of dishes can cause the indecisive major anxiety. The food here is meant to share, so order as much as you want (within your own budgetary reason) and dig in. Among the culinary highlights here are the wasabi mashed potatoes, lobster pancakes, crispy spinach and the seared rare tuna in spicy Japanese pepper. For those who can't eat a meal without at least one piece of sushi, China Grill's back room, the Dragon Room, is a separate but small sushi restaurant with outstanding fare. Although the cavernous restaurant isn't nearly as much of a mob scene as it was when it first opened, a sleek sophisticated crowd with a few celebrities thrown in for good measure still convene here. -- Lesley Abravanel

THE BEST ON THE BEACH
By joerodbarb on 02/01/2008
Quite possibly the best meal I know of in South Beach. Very consistent menu at a moderate price. Everything is great and I cannot say a bad thing about it. I have heard that it is either hit or miss with it but in the 20+ times i have been there is has been a knockout.

Not worth it
By rkronenber on 07/08/2007
Nice ambiance but near impossible to read a menu with this light level. VERY expensive. Greasy. Beef was fatty. Not nearly as flavorful as one would expect for this price level. Far more about appearance than taste. I was expecting both. Oh, and the what appears to be free valet parking is $15.

Bad "Chinese"
By drbobbo on 04/27/2007
China Grill isn't Chinese. No way. Overpriced, huge lines, and edible, but not good, food. This is pseudo Chinese, dressed up to appeal to the South Florida native, but don't for a minute think you are going to get anything resembling Chinese cuisine here. For the life of me, I cannot image why anyone goes back.
