Club Deuce is aces. Attitude is nonexistent and sipping in bars is a way of life. 'The Deuce,' as it's known by locals, has the honor of being the first liquor license granted in South Beach. Neon-lit and noirishly dark inside, this spot is known for extremely cheap drinks, an excellent jukebox and an eccentric group of regulars. Drag queens, raconteurs and pretty women frequent the Deuce 'round the clock. It's open daily from 8 AM to 5 AM. Perhaps the most interesting time to go to the Deuce is during the wee hours, when club kids come in for a nightcap, and the 98-year-old woman who was a pilot during World War II is sharing some of her best stories. Once the site for several Miami Vice shoots, Deuce is unpretentious and proud of its grittiness. For the perfect contrast between new and retro South Beach, begin or complete your night at the Deuce. -- Lesley Abravanel

its the real thing

i've been there sober and not so sober, and i can tell you it is a "classic" dive. don't smoke ciggies, but the ventilation system is pretty good. it is always dark (black shades pulled tight during the day), and if someone comes in the door and leaves it open too long, the bartender may shout "shut the door, you are letting the smoke out!" lots of characters, good juke box, professional bartenders, and CHEAP! gotta love it.

dangerous dive

This place is a haven for haitian drug dealers. Be very careful of the pickpockets watching to see if your drinking too much.
