Wonderful smells escape from the exposed kitchen that takes up one wall of the restaurant; follow your nose and watch the chefs prepare your order. The menu is simple and dependable. Portions are generous, and most entrees include a side dish. Barbecue rules here, with chicken sharing top billing with meaty slabs of ribs. The house sauce is thick and sweet, but there are several other varieties for experimentation. Burgers, salads and soups are available for the more fastidious eaters in the crowd. Thinly sliced fried sweet potatoes, the house specialty and namesake, are available as a side dish or a platter.
