As college student hang-outs go, the Crowbar is a high-traffic hot spot. Penn State students see this joint as a home-away-from-dorm where they can set aside their term papers in favor of the many charms of the Crowbar. Not the least of these attractions is the club's position as a stop for almost any band that happens to be touring in the area. The four-level club has packed the house with performances by such acts as Matchbox 20, Marilyn Manson, Everclear, Third Eye Blind, Kid Rock and Wu-Tang Clan. Crowbar also features special events throughout the year, like Skalloween, held every Oct. 31, when patrons come in costumes for a night of ska bands. Also, keep your ears open for local jazz acts as well as the occasional hip-hop dance night (a mating ritual of choice among the college crowd). -- Barrett Brown
