The establishment's name is taken from the No. 5 jersey that Albert Pujols has worn for the St. Louis Cardinals since his rookie season in 2000. Located at Westport Plaza in the space formerly inhabited by Patrick's, Pujols 5 fits in very smoothly with the fashionable, yet casual feel there. The theme is evident as the space features numerous well-placed plasma TV screens. Images of Cardinals baseball and all other high-profile sports are represented throughout. The menu -- yes, the most important thing -- is more versatile than most sports-themed eateries. There are plenty of reasonably-priced options, including meal-sized salads, stone-fire pizzas and a gourmet touch on the appetizers. The highlights are the variety of chicken dishes. Steaks, sandwiches and pasta round out the menu, which has plenty of vegetarian options. Wine and beer drinkers have plenty to choose from, including a lengthy draft beer list. Couples are abundant and large groups and event parties of up to 100 can be handled by the in-house catering.
