Opening in late 2004, Thai Pizza Co. is another addition to the growing group of Asian ethnic eateries on the Loop. Located across the street from 609 and behind Thai Country, this place offers an interesting fusion of flavors. While many of the dishes use Italian-style pastas or the cracker-thin crust for pizzas, the toppings are definitely Thai flavored. What this place does is use traditional Thai dishes like pad Thai or chicken satay and turns it into pizzas. The thin-crust pizzas feature beautifully laid-out toppings and just a sprinkling of mozzarella cheese. With a long list of different pizzas and unpronounceable dishes available, ordering can be intimidating. Just look to the side of the dish name and order using the number system. The 22 is a delicious shrimp dish coated in coconut-milk sauce with lime. The 32, (gra ree curry pasta) is a heavily spiced pasta dish that definitely requires some water on the side. There's also a stir crazy option on the menu, which allows the customer to create a made-to-order sir fry dish with a choice of different sauces and levels of heat. This place is great for take out since the space is slightly cramped. But within that small area, the owners have tried to make it appealing with bright lighting and colorful decor. The small outlet also allows for the prices to stay very affordable -- and $4.95 for a specialty Thai salad is hard to say no to.
