Located in the heart of renovated hot spot Layfette Square, Baileys' Chocolate Bar is the perfect place for a chocolate lover's first date: It serves rich drinks, decadent desserts, and tasty eats like pizza, appetizers and salads. The drink menu is fully comprehensive, boasting 15 different chocolate martinis that range from the classic sweet milk chocolate to the innovative Mexican chocolate, which is on the spicy side. The wine, appertif, bubbly and beer lists are nothing to scoff at either -- each kind has at least 12 different varieties -- the beer list alone lists 65 choices. Complementing the martini are the desserts, which are moderately expensive, but worth it, particularly Baileys' signature chocolate and butter cream concoction, The Baileys' Chocolate Bar. The space is cozy and warm -- think red for romance -- and the music is just for background, allowing easy conversation. You'll find a mix of young professionals and artisans sharing the bar space and perched on high chaired bar tables that fit groups of four. The atmosphere just makes you happy enough to perhaps share your creme brulee with your date, friends or even stranger. Formerly known as just The Chocolate Bar, the new owner reopend it with a bigger emphasis on "bar" in October 2004.
