If you're in the mood for a frosty glass of beer and some of the best pizza in town, then head on over to Black Thorn Pub and Pizza, located in the buzzing South Grand neighborhood. On busy nights, customers pack into this dimly lit dive bar and wait up to two hours for the famed made-to-order Chicago-style pie, while classic '80s-style video games, pinball, foosball and air hockey pass the time. At Black Thorn, there are no waiters or waitresses, so head up to the bar to order a Newcastle, Guiness, Schlafly Hefeweizen or Bell's Amber Ale on tap, and don't forget to put in for an order of the fantastic garlic bread. The humble decor consists of dollar bills tacked to the ceiling and two small rooms filled with tables and booths; the high-energy clientele includes everyone from softball teams, local residents and college students. For Black Thorn pizza lovers under 21, the same great pies with the same spicy sauce are also available at its sister location, Lemons.

Great Pizza no matter what !

My first visit to this pub was awesome. I ordered the delicious cheesy breadsticks and chilled out to some nice alternative music while I waited for my chicago style (deep dish) pizza. When it arrived (it's a big pizza, so it took awhile) I was pretty full from the huge amount of cheesy breadsticks I consumed, but managed to eat 2 huge pieces of pizza. I ended up taking most of it home for leftovers, and it was awesome the next day as well. It's definitely worth the price because it's so big! Remember, if you want a drink, you'll have to get up and go to the bar to get one. They'll bring your pizza/appetizers out to you, but that's it. Every time I've been there, their deep dish pizza (chicago style) does NOT disappoint! LOVE IT! It's a shame all the "best rated" pizza joints in St. Louis have paper thin crust and provel cheese.

Worst pizza on earth. Had better frozen. Heart burn sauce poor ingedients tasteless cheese. I Think our host was embarrased.
