Rate and Write a Review Restaurant owner Eddie Neill's business used to be focused on turning around a struggling restaurant. Since he opened Cafe Provencal in Clayton and then expanded to his second location in Kirkwood, he's relied on his vast knowledge of why restaurants fail and what it takes to make a good one succeed. The cuisine at Cafe Provencal is inspired by Provence, known for its seafood, garlic, olive oil and light wines. The menu changes daily and features light French cooking. You can pick a three-course or four-course meal for a fixed price, or simply eat the number of courses you prefer at a la carte pricing. The menu is divided into five sections: appetizers like pate and escargots, Soupes, Salades, Plats Garnis like Tilapia saute and Boeuf en daube (beef stew) and Desserts. While the Kirkwood location is in a shopping center, it can still leave you feeling like you've just visited the French countryside. -- HW

I had a leg of lamb (gigot) the other night which was tender as the best sliced plank sirloin and full of that sweet lamb flavor. The bartender (Ryan?) surprised me with an off the board Missouri red that bloomed like a dark rose with the lamb.
Thanks also to Karen, my wonderfully cordial server.
