Opened in 1957, all of the original charm, signage and even some of the original staff remain at Chuck-A-Burger. Painted on the plateglass window of this small drive-up operation, the sign reads ''flash lights for service.'' Though girls on roller skates retired long ago, some of the staff still walk to the car, donning the traditional diner uniform, and take your order with a smile. Elvis still reigns as King here with relics, photos and music throughout the small dining room that's available for those not wanting the curb service. Burgers, fries and flavored sodas represent the standard fare, though an occasional special is thrown into the mix. While this is still a stop for those who frequented it on weekends long ago, it now draws a whole new crowd charmed by the diner demeanor. Adding to its nostalgia quotient is Chuck-A-Burger's sponsorship of classic car shows and '50s-style events.
