The mission of the City Coffee House & Creperie in Clayton is to prepare and serve ''tempting breakfasts and luncheons... in the French manner.'' The small storefront coffee shop's 17 tables fill quickly and the colorful chalkboards that list all of the crepes, quiches, sandwiches, soups, smoothies and specials are jammed with options. Some of those treats include the honey ham and Brie on a baguette, the market salad -- which comes topped with pineapple, mandarin oranges, grapes, apples, bleu cheese and poppy seed dressing -- and at least 33 different types of lunch/brunch or dessert crepes. The crepes are made right behind the counter and customers can watch them come off the griddle. All this and java addicts can rest assured that their espresso Neapolitan or Vermont roast, along with nine other coffee blends are on hand. This is Clayton, though, so parking is at a premium. -- Hillary Wicai

The crepes are delicious. Their coffee selections is great and their staff is wonderful. There is a nice ambience and a great place for families to eat breakfast.

Great Food

The creperie always has delcious crepes and a huge variety to choose from. The lines are usually very long on weekend mornings, and there is always a bit of a wait for the food. Its worth it though when you taste the food.

Over rated & poor service
By ianmyszenski on 04/22/2007
I had an awful service experience they lost my order, I had to wait 1 hour, had to ask 3 people before someone could figure out what was going on, and no one apologized! Very disappointing. To top it off the food was bland, and coffee weak. This may fly in St. Louis, but wouldn't be open 1 month in a larger city like New York, San Francisco, or Chicago. So keep your expectations low and you might enjoy yourself.
