From Scott Joplin to Chuck Berry, St. Louis has a proud musical heritage rooted in jazz and blues music. Cookie's Jazz and More continues this tradition every Wednesday through Saturday night, featuring live music in a classy Webster Groves setting. On Thursday evenings, the club hosts a jam session and invites high school and college students (along with any other talented amateurs) to jam with seasoned professionals on stage. The slick-looking decor includes lots of glass, a velvet-lined stage and a polished-concrete floor. Round tables topped with red candles fill the dimly lit room, where patrons enjoy music while playing cards or a game of chess. Grab a beer, wine, martini or mixed drink from the mirror-backed bar, where plenty of non-alcoholic options are also available. Share a piece of cheesecake with a friend, or have dinner delivered right to your table from area restaurants such as San Sai Japanese Grill, Swifty's or Crossings Taverne & Grille. From burgers to sushi, you'd be hard pressed to find a broader food selection.

Cookie's Jazz and Less !
By exotik1 on 05/20/2007
Had never been to Cookies but went there May 18 to see Tom Braxton whom we'd seen on The Smooth Jazz Cruise 2007. Got there at 7:40 pm and the place looked deserted. Hubby and I sat on the bench outside when "Mr. Cookie" appeared. We told him hubby had just driven in from out of town, that we were new customers, and there specifically to see Tom Braxton. He didn't invite us in. We saw nothing that resembled hospitality. At 8 pm when they opened there was only one other customer besides us. Weird for a Friday night. They don't serve hard liquor and no food. The floor is cement. Sterile atmosphere. Mr. Cookie didn't even know if Tom Braxton was going to show or not and rather blase about it. We left to have dinner nearby. When finished, we walked back by Cookies at 10 pm and peeked thru the window. The stage was empty and dark. Didn't appear to be any entertainment at all. We were sorely unimpressed with the experience and will never go back to Cookies. If Cookies is truly among St. Louis's best jazz clubs, it's a sad state of affairs.

The cover was only $10 and that included food. Everyone was very friendly and the music was wonderful. Very romantic place. Will definitely go back
