Not as good as Northwest
Though the atmosphere is interesting and the food is good, this is certainly not the city's best coffee. That title belongs to a compnay which is sadly not even listed on AOL's city best list: Northwest Coffee company in clayton and in the Central West End. The coffee there is sublime, and the service is friendly and responsive. But back to the coffee, they roast their own coffee and in terms of taste, is incomparable and it's variety is staggering. It is also locally owned, and is an institution in clayton, and an exceptionally loyal following.
Good coffee but location is b
Ok I agree the coffee is good, but about the same as Starbucks, but parking is horrible and do not go during the day in the middle of the week while school is in. It is packed with students. We all know how "friendly" high school and college students can be.
I guess that is good for business, but adults need good parking and grown up company.
I love this coffee house!
I go to the Crooked Tree at least twice a week. They have the best coffee I've found, and a bottomless cup is really cheap. The food is awesome. Lots of variety, pretty fresh. I usually get the Mandarin Chicken Sandwich. Yummy white chicken salad topped with mandarin oranges and toasted almonds. They have a really good spinach crepe too.
The atmosphere is really friendly and casual, and I feel like I can go there and hang out. They have a piano and guitar there, which I tinker on sometimes. Books, games, comfy sofas. When I'm on the run, I grab their fantastic cinnamon roll and a "roadie."
Great Food!
You have to go and eat the Crepe of Monte Christo. It is delicious.... a crepe generously filled with eggs, ham, cheese, and a special sauce, rolled and topped with strawberry sauce. YUMMY! It has a great atmosphere too.... nice music, not too loud, comfy tables and a couch, games, books to read, and a friendly staff. I highly recommend it!
