As soon as you sit down, someone brings you water with homemade chips and salsa to savor while you peruse the menu. That's just one of the many great things about El Tio Gera in St.Charles, where owners Gerardo and Rafaela Chica know how to treat the clientele well. Ordering a jumbo, monster or even a pitcher of the remarkable margaritas might be your first move, or maybe a Mexican beer suits you better. If you're in for lunch, daily specials run from 11AM-2:30PM, and depending on how hungry you are, you can choose between one and four items to make your own combination meal. Breakfast items are available all day. Traditional Mexican favorites include a variety of enchiladas, burritos and tamales, and if you like fajitas, El Tio Gera serves them in an assortment of flavors. The restaurant is colorful, warm and homey, with plenty of cushioned booths to sink into, and enough wooden tables to connect if you need to accommodate a large group.

If you are going for atmosphere, this is not the place, but if you are going for food, this is a MUST. This small and unpretentious restaurant serves the very best Mexican food anywhere in the St. Louis area. I travel extensively and try Mexican restaurants throughout the country. None has even come close to the food at El Tio Gere's. I high recommend it. Worth the trip to St. Charles.

Great Authentic Mexican Fppd!

I have eaten at this restaurant (formerly known as El Tio Pepe) for many years, and I highly recommend that the food is exceptionally good. The family owned restaurant serves great food and it is a great value. The frozen margaritas are delicious with the great food. The owner greets and often serves his customers. The luncheon menu is an especially good value. El Tio Pepe is now located at other locations in St. Charles and St. Charles County, so don't mix-up the two Mexican Restaurants.
