Rate and Write a Review The first real full-service restaurant to open in the burgeoning Grove District, Five is designed with all five senses in mind. Chef/owner Anthony Devoti (a former chef at San Francisco's famed Zuni Cafe) has transformed this turn-of-the-century building into a cozy and inviting European-inspired bistro, adorned with rich burgundy and muted green walls, concrete floors, raised plaster tile ceilings and unforgettable oversized paintings from famed art deco painter Tamara de Lempicka. The small, but well-thought-out seasonal lunch and dinner menus focus on Italian, Asian and French infused fare, featuring the finest local ingredients (the specific farms are even listed on the menu) such as grilled asparagus risotto, braised lamb shank, and grilled soy and citrus marinated pork tenderloin. To round out the bistro experience, Five also offers an interesting line-up of wines and beers, including one of only five taps in the city to pour Mothership Wit, a Belgian-crafted organic wheat beer.
