If the Crab Shack slogan (''Joe knows food and fun'') rings true, then a trip to one of St. Louis' favorite spots for underwater eats should suffice in keeping any fish fanatic's craving sufficiently suppressed. The servers are encouraged to keep your visit upbeat by acting a little crazy, and all the fishing memorabilia and lights are a little kooky too. Joe's also encourages kids to come in with a junior menu that includes items like pizza, mac and cheese and chicken fingers. Begin your meal with starters like calamari, clam chowder and crab balls, and if you're not quite sure where to go from there, mix it up with a fisherman's or broiled seafood platter. Pastas are also packed with seafood, and dishes like the Macadamia mahi and grilled ponchatrain are sure to satisfy hard-core fish lovers. A cheeseburger, chicken club sandwich, top sirloin and more cater to those with an aversion to seafood.

I enjoyed my meals that I've had at Joe's crab shack. I heard that is known for being a loud and energetic atmosphere, so I wasn't shocked when I walked in. Once I sat outdoors and it was a more quiet experience. The appetizers and the food is good. It's not the best I've ever had, but then again, they don't charge an arm and a leg, so I was happy with my overall experience. I like the "pick 3" shrimp. (3 different types of shrimp on your plate. You get to choose from about 6+ varieties).

Bad luck

heh. I got food poisoning from this Joe's Crab Shack. I think it was my fault, though, for dining during a power outage. No worries. I always thought their food was pretty great, though. Crab dip. Oh yeah.
